- Open Stance – a modern groundstroke stance in which the line between a players feet is parallel to the net.
- Closed Stance – a stance in which the line between a players feet is 90 degrees to the net
- Semi-open Stance – a modern groundstroke stance in which the line between a players feet creates an angle between open and closed. Usually this line will be around 30 – 45 degrees
